      This digest-size hi-lo horror series forgoes world-building, character development, and logic in an attempt to hook book-averse kids. Four to five sentences per page with more-than-generous leading between lines and frequent full-page black-and-white comics-like drawings tell the bare-bones, high-octane stories--which may appeal to some reluctant readers despite the low-stakes approach.
